Aim of the School

• The aims of this advanced school are:

to present the state-of-the-art methods and tools to solve large scale linear problems, namely large linear systems and large eigenvalue problems,

to bring together specialist researchers on computational mathematics and to encourage the interchange of new ideas,

to create a suitable environment for the participants to get acquainted and involved in today's computational mathematics research problems.

Program and registration form

• Program of the school.

• School fees: 

  Registration before 31 May 2001: 150 EUROS, after 31 May 2001: 200 EUROS (1 EURO = 200.482 PTE).

  The fee includes attendance to the lectures, support material, 4 lunches (Thursday to Friday), coffee breaks and social program.

• The social program will include a small guided tour through Porto by bus, a walk in Ribeira (old part of the city), a visit to a Porto Wine Cellar and a School Dinner that will take place in the same Porto Wine Cellar.

Travel information and accommodation

• Porto is the European Capital of Culture in 2001, in partnership with Rotterdam.

 

This celebration of culture in Porto will officially start on January 13, 2001. However, the party begins long before this date, with some events already taking place in 2000, and the positive effects will last way beyond its closure at the end of 2001... because Porto wants to build “bridges to the future”.                                                                                                  (from the  official site of the Porto 2001)

• Porto is served by an international airport.
• The airport is just near town. From the airport to the city of Porto you can take either a taxi or a shuttle.
