From
the Airport to the Hotel
From the Oporto airport to your hotel you have
two alternatives:
Outside the
arrival hall you will find taxis that will take to your hotel for about 15
Euros (bags will be charged separately); prices charges will vary according to
the day of the week and hour of the day. The airport is 10 Km from the city.
In the
arrival hall follow the signs to the metro station.
Buy your
ticket (Andante) from the automatic machines in the underground hall - you
should buy a Z4 type ticket that will cost you 1.45 euros
(machines take coins, bank notes or most cards); you may have to buy the
ticket which will cost 50 cents.
The Andante
ticket must always be validated - whenever a journey is commenced and whenever
you switch between lines. To validate a ticket, just place the Andante close to
the validation machine, less than 10 centimetres from
the black circle. A green light indicates that the ticket has been validated
and the holder may travel. The validation machine screen displays the ticket’s
balance. A red light indicates that the ticket has not been validated and the
screen displays an error message. The Andante is rechargeable so you should
keep it for future use.
To travel to
your hotel you should take the Violet line (the only one serving the airport)
to Casa da Música
(direction Estádio do Dragão);
trains run every 20 minutes and take about 30 minutes to get downtown (an extra
15 minutes to your final destination).
From
the Train Station to the Hotel
If you arrive by train you can go from Campanhã train station to your hotel either by taking
a taxi or by Metro.
If you choose to go by Metro buy a Z2 ticket
(it costs 95 cents plus 50 cents for the ticket itself). All lines
serving Campanhã station (A – direction Senhor de Matosinhos, B
– direction Póvoa de Varzim,
C – direction ISMAI, and E – direction Aeroporto)
will take you to Casa da Música. From here to your
hotel you must walk for about 15 minutes (see the map).
From
the Hotel to the Faculty of Economics
To go from your hotel to the Faculdade de Economia (the
workshop venue) you should go back to Casa da Musica
and take any train to Estádio do Dragão.
At Trindade you should switch to line D (direction
Hospital de S. João) and get out at Pólo
Universitário. You need a Z2 ticket
for this (don’t forget to validate your ticket when you switch trains at Trindade – no extra charge). From the metro station to the Faculdade, it is a 5 minute walk (see the map).
